Thursday, May 26, 2005 Dear frens-in-christ,
Just yesterday, when I was having my quiet time, I cried out to the Lord in desperation for His glory and touch. I sensed that he wanted me to check up on a verse, concerning love. In obedience, I turned to those 'love' verses and came upon Psalms 33:18-22.. In Verse 18, it says: "But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him.." When you live your life in godly fear, in obedience to God's voice and living in His will, His eyes are on you. To fear Him means all of these.. The second part of verse 18 says: "on those whose hope is in His unfailing love.." There is only one place where you can be sure that when you place your hope there, it is secure. That is in His love. Why? His love is unfailing- unchanging, eternal, without fail..It can never fall. Verse 19: "To deliver them from death.." Although it is true that God can deliver and rescue us from physical death, such as diseases and disasters, which he definitely will, I believe the psalmist was referring more to spiritual death when he mentioned it here. B'cos of God's unfailing love, he gave his son to die for our sins, thus we are reconciled to the Father in a loving relationship that births life. The latter part of the verse says: "keep them alive in famine." The word famine, I believe, refers to spiritual hunger. God, in His own way, showed me the key to satisfying spiritual desperation- His Love. Everytime we are dry, we can run back to the His Love, which the bible says, is unfailing- it never runs dry.. Verse 20: "we wait in hope for the Lord.." "Waiting in hope" means to wait expectantly. In life, there are many periods of time that we have to wait, but our attitude in waiting is what matters. Therefore, the psalmist waits "in hope" for the Lord, meaning that he does not despair or fear but continues to put his hope, trust and expectation in God. "he is our help and our shield.." Why do we have hope when we wait? The bible answers it clearly..He is our help and shield. He is and still is. Verse 21: "in him our hearts rejoice..we trust in His holy name.." The Holy name of Jesus that heals, saves, binds up and restores is the name that we trust. Shouldn't our hearts rejoice? Verse 22: "May your unfailing Love rests upon us even as we put our hope in You." Lastly, even as we hope in Him, we can have the blessed assurance of His unfailing and undying love. It is a love that cannot and will not fail us..always there for us to lean on and be a guide for us even in troubling times. may God's Peace be upon u.. Ben History Maker
