What is the declaration written across your life today?

Is it a declaration that Jesus reigns? That He is your world...and that your life is all about Him? That it’s All about Jesus!

I pray sincerely that as we embark on 2006, indeed, that we will declare with all conviction that our life is all about Jesus. And that, we will return to the heart of worship- a heart that seeks that still small voice.

As we begin this new yr, let us take a moment to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us about His will in our lives. Let us take our eyes off the circumstances we may be in- fruitful or barren, and worship the King for who He is. Let Him renew our love to Him.

And let’s say, “Have your way...Holy Spirit, have your way.”

Living for God's glory

It's not easy. Like what Oswald Chambers say...sometimes, we find it easier to stay at a mountain- where the Glory of God dwells than coming down to the valley- where we find ourselves among the ordinary. But that is exactly where we must Live for God's glory.

It is easy to shine when God's glory is sweeping around us. But it is not easy to shine when Darkness swirls around us. If we do not make a stand to live for His glory, we will fall into this shroud of darkness and His potential for our lives is contained. But let us choose this day that we will "walk before the Cross"...and thus others will see the sacrifice of Jesus- the Cross when they see look at our lives.

That we will choose to die to ourselves...and be a living sacrifice...that indeed- "It is no longer I who live, but Christ that lives in me."

Amen.

Christmas Season...what's on your heart?

Indeed, that’s the question I’m posting to you today- what’s on your heart? This Christmas season...you may be harboring thoughts of asking your best friend to give you something that you have desired to get all along...or maybe, you are intending to get your crush out for a candlelit dinner=]...or simply take a break from the world’s noise...

These are appropriate wishes...to admit, I do wish for some of those things too...but those fail short of what is on God’s heart this Christmas. We, as Disciples of Christ, should ask God how He feels this Christmas and then “let His heartbeat be our Heart’s Cry”!

I believe God’s heart is for the Lost this Christmas- especially on Christmas...when people are turned towards the Birth of Jesus Christ- who is the Author of Salvation...the one who gave His life for us. He desires for the Lost to return to communion with Him.

And I am convicted that the Greatest Gift you can gift your loved ones and friends this Christmas is to let them know about the salvation that can only be found in the Messiah. Will you join with me, as we begin to tell the World this Christmas about the wonderful gift that Jesus had been born those 2000 yrs ago to give?

“Come on, Come on, we’ll tell the World about You.”

Principles to be learnt from the case of the Rich young Ruler...

As I reflected on this incident in the bible where a rich young ruler came to Jesus, asking what He should do to enter the Kingdom of heaven..and then hearing Jesus' reply made him go away sad...I asked myself what caused this ruler to give up his chance of following Jesus. Many Jesus calls to follow Him...but not many are chosen- the bible says. And this ruler was one who was called but not chosen. Why?

I believe we can find 3 reasons in scripture.

No.1: the ruler felt that his earthly possessions are needed & are necessary and was of more present value than following Jesus...at least here on earth.

No.2: the ruler had formed a deep emotional (heart) connection with his possessions. He would have felt pain even at the thought of losing them.

No.3: the ruler had been unprepared for the cost. His zeal and passion was suddenly opposed by Jesus' words- "Sell your possessions, give it to the poor, and come Follow me."

How I pray that when God calls us to follow Him, our hearts will be prepared for the cost. And that, truely...we can say with absolute conviction- "Here I am, Send me!"

Praying for u all,

Benedict

Get FEAR out!

Confusion, uncertainties, fused with circumstances of life fill us with fear sometimes. What do we deal with this fear? Do we just "ignore" it and "leave it aside"?

As I was reflecting on this, the Lord just impart this upon my heart- Resistance against Fear is the stretching of Faith. Indeed it's true. When we do resist fear, our Faith is stretched.

What does the bible say about "fear"? For God has not given us a spirit of Fear, but a spirit of Power, Love, and Sound Mind. Faith is the opposite of Fear...we can't be living in both!

Let us thus choose Faith- for without faith, it is impossible to please God. How then should we move from being Fear-filled to Faith-filled? Let us then "submit to God", "resist the Devil" (for fear is birthed out of a lie, thus let us rebuke the father of lies with the authority of God), and what will happen? "and he shall FLEE from us."

Let's take "every thought captive to the obedience of Christ"...accept the truth and let it FREE us from the bondage of fear...and it's subtle traps..

What would happen if...

My heart's yearning desire is to see a movement of young people arise in Anglican High. God is going to bring in His revival (revival= when God gives up on man's effort and shows up!) to AH...but he's waiting for godly young men and women to usher in the revival. They are people who will dare to live out His call in their school. They are people who will not back down when faced with opposition but will stand without compromise on the word of God. They are people who will make loud the praises of their God and will unceasingly praise Him for who He is and for ALL that He has done for them.

They will preach the word of God boldly, with power and authority from on high- with the conviction that comes from the Holy Spirit. They will minister healing to the broken-hearted and see the lost coming to salvation through the anointing of God on them.

They will be the ones who will speak out against the ungodly culture that is prevalent in this day and age...and will begin to influence the students and teachers included by the godly and righteous lives that they are living- not that they do not sin, but are "working out their salvation with fear and trembling". When unsaved people start to see the love of Christ exhibited in their lives, they will repent of their sins and turn to God. The culture of hatred, malice, gossip, lust and self-centeredness will be broken. And in turn, the fruits of the Spirit will be the culture of the day!

Truly, "holiness and righteousness" can become our motto. But before all that can happen...

Christians in AHS need to hear the call, beckon to it, and obey! Only then, can God manifest in us for His will and Glory.

From my heart to yours,

Benedict

Remember God's Purposes

Indeed...it's important for us as God's warriors to remember the creative purpose of God for people on this earth. What is this purpose? It is for people to worship Him and enjoy Him. That is why we stress "evangelism" as one of the five purposes of living on earth. We are in the ministry of reconciliation- to bring people back to God.

We need to be people who will allow the life of Jesus to be lived out in us...what does that mean? His interests for people must become our interests for them- it must become our heartbeat for the lost and those who have gone astray.

Therefore, when we carry this purpose in our hearts- we will start loving people fervently. Not just people who are good to us. But even those who may come against us. We have been told to love. When we love, we walk in God's light.

Are we loving people unconditionally today?

Pray...for Anglican high Youth Fellowship

Frens...

I do hope that you will join me in prayer for YF. The next two weeks- the leadership has decided to have 2 sessions of prayer and intercession after worship. That is good. For, I have sensed the Lord’s direction for YF to be “still before His Presence” and to “lean upon His grace, not hope in our own efforts”.

Next week (13th dec) will gather YF to pray for our personal walk with God- that is first and foremost. It should come before our service to Him. So, do pray that God will keep us in unity as we pray and intercede for our Walk with Him- that it will be guarded and we will have a renewed love for Him, renewed passion for prayer and renewed hunger for His word.

Do pray...we need it.

Tks everyone,

Ben

Song with a Purpose

The world out there is crying out for a sound- a sound of hope for their lives, homes and families. We have a sound to bring to them: a sound that will cause "many to see and fear Your name". It is a song that must be seen- lived out...not just sung.

As part of God's holy Levites, let us bring this song to the masses. Through our everday lives, let us be a channel of His love to the lost. To those who are hurting and in need. To those who are searching for true love.

We have in our hands the Good News- the News that can change their lives & heal the pain in their hearts. But are we willing to carry this "song with a purpose" to the lost? Are we willing to go down to their level and care for them?...meet their needs even?

This could mean just giving a word of encouragement, saying a simple prayer for them or even buying for them food? As long as it comes from our heart- this song with a purpose.

Know that Good News is Bad News to those who never heard of it.

“Follow me”

In Hebrews, there’s an interesting description of what it means to follow Christ. The description is as follow:

To walk pass the tents
Out of the city gate
To the darkness outside
Where there is no outlying city ahead.

Are you willing to walk down this path- “the narrow way” that Jesus called... hearing his voice call-“Follow me.”

What's in the centre?

If we want to know whether something is pure and of God...we need to ask- "what's in the centre?" Does it point to futility of man and the only true Love that is found in Jesus?

The essence of our lives- in the things that we do and say must reflect this. All the time.

But, so many are attacking the life of Jesus in us. Are we guarding the honour of Christ in our hearts? Are we living our lives in a way that points others to the Love of Jesus? Are we convicted ourselves of this Love?

Lord, help us.

No Compromise- stand on your conviction

Do you know what makes the world turn for a second glance at the Church of Jesus Christ today? It is when Holy Spirit-filled believers start standing on their conviction...and will not make a compromise no matter the criticism of people- even if they are christians.

Christians should have a godly fear of God! God needs to be revered and feared. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." We need to worship God. Worship is worth-ship. He is altogether worthy! We need to fear Him...not afraid of Him because there is no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus...but to hold Him in the highest regard. Yes. the bible says He is loving Father, compassionate Friend. But the bible also says He is the Holy God, the bright and morning Star, the Judge of our lives- the One and Only that deserves our total praise and adoration.

Do we hold Him in this manner?...and do we potray Him in this manner to the world or do we show Him only-as a saviour and a friend? Yes. He is that. But He deserves our respect. and reverance. The place where God is not revered and enthroned as who He is - God...chaos reigns and there is no real power- but just "a form of godliness but denying its power."

But when we build an altar for Him in our lives, our homes, our schools, He comes and takes His place as the Lord of all that we are.

It is time for the Church of Jesus Christ to build that Altar for God.

Take Your Place of ALL Honour,
Take Your Place Above ALL Thrones,
Take Your Place of ALL Power...

Indeed...Lord...take Your Place!

Obedience Again!

Frens...

obedience is not easy. And God will keep bringing up the test of obedience until we become totally surrendered to His will.

Our "carnal nature" - our flesh is in constant struggle against the spirit of God in us. We have to "take captive every thought that exalts itself above the knowledge of Christ Jesus." Sometimes, it's a very thin line between what is of God and what is of the flesh.

But...whenever we do hear the word of God being spoken...let's obey!. Even though, our flesh will cry out to have it's way.

Listen to people whom God has placed in authority over our lives. To them, give your whole-hearted attention and obedience.

God honours obedience.

Who are we to make less the worth of a team player? Who are we to assume the role of "God" over their lives and lord over them? Who are we?... We are but people- who are from dust and will return someday to dust...used by God for His work. And here's how God sees every member of our team- He sees them more valuable than the most precious gold...He sees them as "of higher standing than angels"...He sees them as dynamite waiting to explode for Him. He seems them all having a part to play in doing His will. Btw...he paid a very dear price (in case you haven't notice) to prove their value: He died for them. Let us value our team players too.
