This article is entitled "Factors Contributing to School Violence". It is taken from "Scoring Models for Exposition: Cause-and-Effect Essay" (© Prentice-Hall, Inc).
The article suggests three significant factors that cause school violence, namely- tumultous family history, peer group rejection and inability to deal with anger or agression. Violence is defined as "the unjust or callous use of force or power as in violating another's rights, sensibilities, etc."
Firstly, family issues can place serious emotional burdens on the student. Due to conflicts with parents at home, students may arrive at school, in the mood to initiate arguments. Disruptions in the student's home life, therefore, may result in disruptions at school.
Secondly, rejection by peers can also cause students to engage in violent behaviour. This is so as students take out their frustrations in violent acts. Violence may be the student's means of attaining revenge or it may bolster his or her self esteem to physically assert superiority over a younger or weaker student.
Finally, bullying can also increase school violence. This happens when bullies emotionally and physically taunt weaker, less agressive students to bolster their own low self-esteem.
School violence can be prevented by making a serious investment in time and resources of the school. Counselling programs can be organized to enable students to learn how to cope in a non-violent way. Presentations by trained professionals can also help students and teachers understand how to cope with violence and its causes.
In conclusion, violence can be stopped by keeping in mind why students are violent in order to curb the behaviour.

Today, I saw a girl. About my age. Had a face that showed signs of the fairness that it once held...now wearied by the concerns and cares of life. Our eyes met...but for a moment...my soul had barely touched hers before she was no longer in sight.
Reminded me of our hurting world. People out there whose hearts are broken...waiting to be mended...people whose tears can't seem to end...whose world have just falled apart...do we care? Do we stop to even consider their misery and pain? Do we even feel the compassion Jesus felt as he looked across his own people who were headed towards destruction?
Would we be like Him? Would we care?

"add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge..." 2nd Peter 1:3
knowledge. is not academics. it is the "clear, certain mental apprehension" that is based on an encounter with "truth".
Thus, your encounter with Christ will determine your level of knowledge of Him. Do you understand forgiveness with your heart? Do you truely love?
Finally...do you have a friend in Jesus? Do you say like Paul- "All these things I have counted loss...to knowing Jesus Christ..."?
Today...He is reaching out for you. Open up your hearts.
